Jody Richardson is a freshwater fisheries
scientist, formerly working at NIWA. “My professional work with
native species has given me an appreciation for the unique flora and
fauna that NZ has, and how threatened it is. Since retirement, my
goal has been to give something back to nature”.
Jill Philps has always enjoyed tramping and camping
when time allows. Jill was a strong Friends supporter helping
organise working bees and public events. She became a trustee in
2008. Jill wishes to learn more about our bush and wildlife and at
the same time give something back to our community.
Peter McKellar has been an active tramper for over
35 years, is a member of the Rotorua Tramping & Skiing Club and has
tramped in most parts of New Zealand. "Mt Ngongotaha is a small part
of wilderness in our own back yard. This is an opportunity for me to
give something back, and to showcase the New Zealand bush that I
have enjoyed for so long."
Neil Heather is a sheep and beef farmer with
qualifications in farm management. He represents Federated Farmers
on the Lakes Rotorua and Rotoiti Action Plan and Land Use Change and
Management Focus Group.
Neil Oppatt is the owner of logging equipment
design and marketing company Harvestech Industries Ltd. He is an
Environment BOP Councillor, Chairman/Director Rotorua Regional
Airport Company Ltd, past Rotorua District Councillor/Chairman of
Finance Committee and past member of the DOC Bay of Plenty
Conservation Board.
Richard Gillies is an ecological consultant. He
previously worked for the Department of Conservation between
1996-2005 in biodiversity management and the recovery of threatened
species and ecosystems. Staunch cycle commuter.
Jim Rofe has recently retired from 39 years of
farming at Rerewhakaaitu. He has been a member of Forest and Bird
for many years and represents them on the trust. During his farming
years one of his hobbies was rearing pheasants and releasing them
into the wild. He also reared Red Leg Partridges for Wildlife when
they were trying to get them established in N Z. He also has a
strong affinity for N Z Fauna and Flora.
Graeme Young has been around Rotorua since the
early 1970’s working in forestry related occupations. He has always
had a keen environmental interest and was previously involved with
various EBOP committees. He is a member of the Kaharoa Kokako Trust.
With his family now grown and having moved into town after 12 years
of lifestyle block living ‘off-the-grid’, he now has time on his
hands to indulge in his interests.
Tom Lynch is a
teacher, wildlife educator, adventure guide and photographer.
He has returned to Rotorua from Wellington, where he
conducted a major educational programme for Zealandia, the Karori
Wildlife Sanctuary.
He
is working on major projects at the Waiariki Institute of
Technology.
Alia Mabey
works for Radio Network
in the sales team, working with businesses and
organisations on their advertising and promotions, and has an events
management background. She is also active in Rotaract here in
Rotorua, as well as being a Red Cross emergency response team
volunteer. Obviously she will be a huge asset on the Trust Board.
Tai Eru J.P. is a Bay of Plenty Regional Councillor
and Chairman of several forestry, farming and land trusts. He is a
government appointee to the Rotoiti Scenic Board, chairs the Hells
Gate Thermal Reserve and the Kaihikatea White Pine Bush Saving our
Airport, and is a Mokoia Island Kiwi Project trustee. He has been
koeke and trustee for the Rotorua Girls High School Board for 15
years.
